ScarWork Therapy
This is a specialised form of manual therapy that works directly on, around and below scars which is often where much of the adhered to tissue can cause issues such as restricted range of movement, nerve and numbness, pain and discomfort to name just a few. Whether you have an old or recent scar from surgery, injury or caesarians, they can all be treated.
By applying these gentle hands on techniques, a wide range of benefits can be achieved. These include improved mobility, a reduction in tissue irregularities, smoothing out sticky fibres/adhesions and bringing back a greater sense of sensation rather than numbness.
Sharon Wheeler is the pioneer behind this ground breaking work, (plus BoneWork) and teaches these modalities around the globe. Sharon studied Structural Integration with Dr Ida Rolf in the 1970’s and today continues her hands-on practice in the United States.
ScarWork Therapy benefits
Treatments can help soften the scar and any underlying areas which may feel thicker, hard or lumpy and may help loosen adhesions in the deeper tissues.
